Portugal's national team coach, Fernando Santos, has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo's surprise departure from the squad, amidst intense media scrutiny. According to reports from aljazeera.com, Santos addressed the media at a press conference held at the team's training camp in the Portuguese Algarve region. Ronaldo, a key player for both Portugal and his club, Manchester United, had been absent from the team's pre-match preparations, fueling speculation about his future with the national team.

Sources close to the team revealed that Ronaldo had been under pressure to perform, following Portugal's disappointing World Cup exit in 2022.
